# Wordpress Roles

When a new wordpress account (e.g. [ads.aunsw.88.io](http://ads.aunsw.88.io)) has been created through Team Compute an ID Provider e.g. [id.138813.au](http://id.138813.au), the default role is normally an "Author"

**Subscriber**

This is the most basic role, typically allowing users to manage their own profile and view content on the site, especially if the site requires registration for full access.

**Contributor**

Users with this role can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them. Their posts require approval from an Editor or Administrator before becoming public. They also cannot upload media files.

**Author**

Authors can write, edit, and publish their own posts. They can also upload media files for their own content but cannot edit or publish posts by other users.

**Editor**

Editors have broader capabilities, including the ability to publish and manage posts and pages by all users, moderate comments, manage categories and tags, and upload media files.

**Administrator**

This is the most powerful role on a single WordPress site, with full control over all aspects of the website, including managing users, installing plugins and themes, and changing site settings.

**Super Admin**

This role exists only in WordPress Multisite installations. A Super Admin has control over the entire network of sites, including creating and deleting sites, managing network-wide settings, and managing users across all sites.
