AI Language Project

Our preferred language for EU is English, but EU has 23 other official languages:

Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish.

There are many AI translation and speech models we can use, but we do not understand the outputs of any of them.

We need people from non-English speaking countries in EU to work with Team Compute's AI technologies e.g. translate.aunsw.88.io to evaluate their quality.

Paracrawl

We do NOT want to overlap our effort with the fantastic paracrawl project:

While there are some overlap the focuses are different:

  • Our focus is using English as an intermediate language for all languages.

  • ParaCrawl focus on building parallel corpora for direct translation between non-English language pairs. This is achieved by collecting and aligning sentence pairs in various languages directly from the web, bypassing English as a go-between.
