Autonomous System Number
Internet's core data traffic routing protocol, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), uses Autonomous System Number to identity different networks.
There are currently about 92000 organisations with ASN, about 77000 have only one ASN, 88.io is one of the remaining about 15000 organisations that have more than one ASN.
A ranking of global ASN is available here:

Currently 88.io is using the following Autonomous System Number range:
- AS133758 - Public ASN for normal unicast traffic
- AS133175 - Public ASN for anycast traffic
- AS65000 - Private ASN for development
- AS65001 - Private ASN for aunsw mesh
There is an official range of ASN reserved for Private Use:
- 16-bit: AS64512 - AS65534
- 32-bit: AS4200000000 - AS4294967294
Currently 88.io has reserved:
- AS65000 to AS65500 for Citizen Ecosystems
- AS4210000000 to AS4290000000 for Area Entities
They are assigned from the lowest number towards the highest number on a first come first served basis.
