Features

  1. Profile
Let people get basic information about you and your posts.

  2. Portfolio
Create a portfolio-style page which showcases some of the images you’ve uploaded either manually selected or automatically.

  3. Editor
Just like with Instagram, you can do image editing and image filters at the time of upload.

  4. Collections
You can group Pixelfed posts into a collection and present them to people browsing your account as a single unit. This way it’s easy to group your posts into themes if you want and present them that way.

  5. Stories
These are similar to Instagram stories (disappear after 24 hours) but are only visible to followers.

  6. Suggestions
Admins can create suggested and useful accounts and links to help users discover new content.

  7. Import
You can import your data into Pixelfed from Instagram.

Mastodon Link Verification

Mastodon has a very basic verification process using another web page that you own:

1. Using Web Page

Traditionally it can be quite complex, you have to copy the mastodon Verification URL and put it inside some web page of yours.

  1. Sign into Mastodon
  2. Click "Edit profile"
  3. Go to "Verification" section
  4. Copy the verification URL
  5. Paste the verification URL into ANOTHER web page of yours.

2. Using Pixelfed Profile

Instead of some other web page, you can use your pixelfed profile web page to achieve the same thing.

So 2 web pages are involved here:

  1. Your mastodon profile web page
  2. Your pixelfed profile web page

Basically both profile links need to be input into each other.

The process requires you to input your pixelfed profile onto your mastodon profile, then mastodon will check that pixelfed profile to see whether your mastodon profile has been specified there.

2.1. Steps

To use pixelfed for such a mastodon verification link, you need BOTH profile links ready. For example:

Step 1 - get profile links

For example:

  1. pixelfed profile link

  2. mastodon profile link

Step 2 - add profile links

  1. on pixelfed profile

    • add your mastodon profile link to your pixelfed profile's "Website" field
  2. on mastodon profile

    • add your pixelfed profile link to your mastodon profile's "Profile metadata" field

Note in your mastodon "Profile Metadata" field there are TWO input boxes, you can put anything in the first input box (e.g. "pixelfed") and then you put in your pixelfed profile link into the second input box.
