The "sydney" district

The district label "sydney" comes from the Australia National Compute Team's standard Local Government Area Name to District Label formation rules:

  1. Make the Local Government Area name all lowercase

  2. Remove these words from the name:

    1. city
    2. council
    3. district
    4. municipal
    5. municipality
    6. of
    7. region
    8. regional
    9. rural
    10. shire
    11. town
    12. the

  3. Remove any non-alphanumeric characters
    e.g. space, dash, comma etc.

By applying the above 3 rules "The City of Sydney" becomes "sydney"
