Area Mesh enables you to access, build and own the local communication infrastructure of your neighbourhood.

You can be:

  1. Local Node - bridging nodes within a Local Mesh together.
  2. Edge Node - bridging Area Mesh with the wider internet.

Both roles are as simple as connecting your Mesh Node with to the broadband router on your site (either using an ethernet cable or through WiFi radio).

Campus network aims to provide a base upload speed of around 50Mbps (based on low cost 802.11n WiFi radios operating on a single 20 MHz channel with one antenna and 400ns guard interval).

Using a 1GByte as standard (approximate size of a 10 minute video with 1920x1080 resolution at 30 frames per second using advanced encoding (e.g. AV1) .

0.5 G 5 M 13:20
1 G 1 M 133:20

1 G 10 M 13:20
1 G 15 M 8:53

If you are offering resources to other Private Cyberspaces over the internet, then an internet UPLOAD bandwidth of at least 10Mbps is recommended.

If you CANNOT afford a Upload speed of 10Mbps

In comparing between different NBN speed options, NBN like to use 10GB file for download and 1GB file for upload. The upload time required range from within 4 minutes to 3 hours!

Unfortunately, a lot of Australians are on the lower end of that range:

NBN's current bandwidth delivery model is extremely inefficient. Traffic between neighbours just a few METRES apart, have to travel to KILOMETRES through their local phone exchange to a POI further away, then from these POI to the Internet Service Provider's data centre which is even further away, then it reached the Cloud Platform and turns around and comes back through the same POI and same exchange to the neighbours.
